Day 75 - December 11th (Day 29 of 65)

Wet, Wet, Wet! Yes. It's been raining since around 12 today, and it has caused some local flooding. We went to go to the property this afternoon via our normal route, and the road was flooded. Watched some cars drive through it and it was getting up above their tyres!!  Thought I might look to see how else we can approach the property. Found another way round, but whilst the creek was flowing just under the bridge, the side street we used to get to the property was covered in water. I reckon if it went much higher, you'd have no choice but to wait it out!

No one was at the property today. The rear outdoor entertaining area was underwater. Looks like I'll need to add a drain around the area.

Out door area....

Too much water has flowed in this way. Looks like it lies a little lower than the soil outside. Will need to fix this....

The man hole has been painted. Just didn't get a photo of it until now.

On the way out, we went an alternative route. Looks like this road can flood as well, with markers on the road to indicate water depths. It was reasonably low, so we drove through it. If it was any higher, we would have been waiting!

  1. Wow, take care of youself out there. What would happen if you were actually living there, and you were surrounded by water?

I have a similar problem with water pooling up around our outdoor area. On completion of your house, Metricon will do a site clean and add fill around your house to adequately drain water away from the house. They actually come to my house to start it, but I don't know how far they got to, as the rain started to come, I bet it interupted his plans to finish it off.

It's part of their reponsibility to ensure all the drains and run offs work properly, or else engineers and certifiers won't sign off.
