Day 56 - November 22nd

Don't forget. If you'd like to come along to Upper Coomera, this Sunday and meet some others who are building, fill in this form and let me know.

Got out to the site this afternoon to find two of the electrical contractors still onsite. Looks like they have been having some problems getting power to the house correctly. They have had to dig up the conduit that runs into the house to replace it as they said one of the power phases wasn't getting into the house as it should be.

I didn't take any photos of the hole they had to dig beside the house, but it seems they can't get the cable to pull out of the power box through this orange tube from down in the earth....? Will have to see how they got on tomorrow.

A picture from day 38 ....

Today they cut most of the power point and data outlets in the house, as well as the lighting. They also started to waterproof the wet areas in the home. It's pretty unusual the way they do it. They pop a balloon in the brain pipe, fil the shower recess will water, and pray! :-> .

They also cut all of the edging today and located all the doors to the final resting places. This should be completed tomorrow. The brickies came back today as well and have now completed the job.

  1. Do they do the balloon thing to test of the waterproofing holds. If the waterproofing isn't done properly, then the water level will change. I don't know. I'm just guessing, I don't ever recall seeing that done in our bathroom.

Have you got 3 phase, single phase or both coming in? I hope it's not the conductivity of the steel frame that causing it.

  2. I suspect we have three phase coming in for the Air conditioner. Not sure why they couldn't move the cable??

Looks like one of the balloons isn't stopping the water escaping as you could hear it dripping while I was there. :>

  3. Suspect? haha.. you don't know? You can run up to 16-18kW systems with single phase 240v. Unless you specify you need 3 phase, they will install it, and it would cost extra on your electrical variation. If it's not specified you might just have single phase.
