Day 152 - February 26th (Day 8)

Well we've been living in our new home for a week now. Our site supervisor came by yesterday to finish fixing the last of the items we had noted. About the only issue we haven't had fixed just yet is the water tank.

This isn't Metricon's fault however, as we arranged the install of the unit ourselves. Not sure what is taking them so long long however? I haven't even heard from them and it's been over a week. Might be time to give their head office a ring I think?

The problem is that when you switch the pump on, it builds up the pressure and then starts leaking! So much so, that we can't have it switched on at the moment as all the water would leak out of the tank...it's not a drip..but a constant flow of water. Not sure how they missed this?

We started by marking the border...

The neighbours have now had their land cut.

This was at the end of  Friday. We have stepped up the level as the property rises and this level makes it all the way to the front of the property. I haven't got any photos from today. We almost finished it... Will take some pics of the final product tomorrow.

  2. Hi! We are in the process of building the Grandview 33.. love your blog! So helpful. Just wondering how you felt about your brickwork? I think we got dodgey contractors. Love what you've done with the place.

  3. Hi Steve.

The brickwork was fine. No issues with it. It was all done well. I noticed some people do end up with issues however as the brick they chose shows up differences in batches.

Luckily for us this wasn't the case. Where are you building?

  4. We are from the Redlands also (still have a home in Thorneside), but our Metricon house is being built in Pine Mountain (15 minutes from Ipswich). I think that our brickies thought that the home was being rendered for some reason. They used different mortar colours, the joinery is shoty and the corners.. in particular in the alfresco area is very uneven. Our site manager is checking it out this week. Did they do a brick clean on your place? They did one last Friday thinking that it would make a difference, but instead they have burnt several bricks and blasted mortar out of the joinery. Not sure what they will do about it. Otherwise, we love the home.

  5. Well I did notice another Metricon Blogger who had them pull down the brickwork and start again... It turned out much better. Have to see if I can find that blog again.

  6. Hi,
I am looking at building the same house as you "Grandview".
Just wondering what the total cost (just house) cost you all up?
We have been quoted from about $185,000 to $201,000 for luxury range.
    Thankyou,
    Billy
